Assalamualaikum Ustaz,

I will be going to Umrah some time this year. I am worried that my haidh will come during the time I perform my Umrah. I heard that some people take some kind of hormone pills to delay their haidh. From my knowledge, such pills have side effects and that it’s not 100% guaranteed the haidh won’t come at all even after taking it.

I would like to know more about this – whether it’s haram or permissible, whether it’s a must to take the pills or whether it’s up to individual. It would be nice if you could elaborate more on this.

If there is no harm caused by those pills, you can take them with the intention to delay the menses. You can consult the doctor to ensure that it is safe for you.
